Unlike the achievements (advancements) added by some of the mods in the game, these ones will not be automatically triggered when completed, meaning you have to check them off yourself. When you spawn in for the first time, you will have several items already in your inventory among these items are a piece of bacon and a donut, a reference to the creator of the mod pack, and several books, one of which is a book of in-game achievements. This would probably be a good time to mention one of the things that really drew me to Sky Factory 3– the achievement book. I intend to rebuild the dark room as an, at least somewhat, automated mob farm. I did have a hostile mob spawning dark room, however it has since been dismantled to make room for a mechanical area. When you start, no matter what spawn point you choose, a single torch will always be enough to light up your area and prevent monsters from spawning. This is due to the fact that, even though I’ve been playing Minecraft since 2012, I never really learned how to build one properly, because, until now, I’ve always been able to get cobblestone from the world around me.Īs the days and nights progressed, I realized that Sky Factory 3 is actually quite good when it comes to hostile mobs spawning. This is to avoid building something extremely complex, time consuming, or expensive in my no-cheats world, just to find out that it doesn’t work.įor my non-cheats world, I chose the spawn with the cobblestone generator. I use the cheats world to test out ideas to then implement in my non-cheats world. I currently have two main worlds in Sky Factory 3, one with cheats and one without. Everything else you must build out from there. However, no matter what setup you choose one thing will always be the same– this is the only land in your world. These include a single grass block, intended for Creative Mode use, a cobblestone generator with a chest that includes some saplings and a few dirt blocks, as well as the classic single tree and dirt block. Unlike traditional Skyblock however, Sky Factory 3 actually gives you several choices of where to spawn. Anyway, with that out of the way, on to the review!įor those of you who aren’t familiar with Sky Factory, or are completely unaware of what it is, imagine the Skyblock minigame that has been popular on Minecraft servers for a long while now, with 190+ different mods thrown in.Įven in basic multiplayer Skyblock, I’ve always found the idea of starting with basically nothing and having to build the world around you to be a very interesting one. This is mostly due to the fact that, for me at least, the Twitch launcher just seems to run the mod pack a lot better than the FTB launcher does. Second of all, even through the game is called Feed The Beast Presents Sky Factory 3, I decided to use the Twitch launcher instead of the FTB launcher. I’ll probably end up covering Sky Factory 4 in a different review further down the line so don’t worry. Perhaps it’s because 3 is more based around diverse recourse gathering than 4 is, I’m not quite sure. While both are entertaining experiences that certainly add interesting variations to the basic Minecraft experience, I always find myself enjoying Sky Factory 3 more. The first thing I want to cover here is why I chose Sky Factory 3 over Sky Factory 4. I’ve decided to start this series off by reviewing the mod pack that got me interested in mods on a Mac for the first time in years– FTB Presents Sky Factory 3. Hello and welcome to the first mod pack review in my □□□ □□□ □□□□ series.
